Hey guys!
So I built my first computer a while back. I was an excited novice at the time, and I did not understand the concept of, "Bottlenecking." So, of course, I went for an R9 290 and an Athlon X4 860K. Obviously, my 290 is running at like, half potential, even with my 860K overclocked to 4 Ghz. My birthday is rolling around in a couple months, and I decided that I'm going to try to upgrade my CPU so I can get better performance out of my 290. What do you guys recommend? I'd like to spend as little money as possible while still getting a decent upgrade, so please also include recommendations for M/B (and possibly RAM , if the M/B requires it.) I'd like to stick with my PSU so I don't have to buy a new one and re-cable manage everything as well. Finally, what can I expect to get for my current MB and CPU on the secondary market, or should I bother trying to resell at all? Here's my build:
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($69.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.33 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($68.99 @ Directron)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($38.88 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Seagate 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($69.88 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 290 4GB Double Dissipation Video Card ($264.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($34.99 @ Micro Center)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($36.98 @ OutletPC)
