I decided to purchase a used i7-4790(Non-K). I want to know that when I installed the new cpu inside my mobo. Do I just go ahead and enjoy the new CPU or do I need to mess with the clock speed in the bios or do I need to do a new clean install of Windows? Or anything do I need to do more after I install the CPU?

Rig Info:
Windows 10 64-Bit Pro
i7-4790(Non-K)
GeForce GTX 950
2x8GB 1600Mhz
Corsair CX600Modular (600W)

Solution
Hello... If your MB BIO's has the CPUID in it... then it's automatic... in the BIO's and Windows.
1) So make sure your MB BIO's version has the NEW CPU listed at your MB website... Flash update BIO's with OLD CPU if needed.
2) But boot first to the BIO's and LOOK, if good? then save&exit... Power down and Power up, Boot to Windows. B )

Hi,
I hope that you have actually checked if your mobo support your new cpu, see if there is a need to update bios.
After installing a new cpu, there is a chance you will be warned that you installed new cpu. Few times I have been warned and then entered into bios, but didn't change anything, left bios use defaults. But there was a time that after installing a new cpu, windows booted just fine, but informed me that new cpu is installed and needs reboot.

Good luck.

Hello... If going from AMD to intel or intel to AMD you should "Clean install" different Communications Engine (hardware)... But your just changing the 'Engine" "hardware" with the same MB, chipset, Intel instruction set, and MB drivers for communication.
Don't make it any harder than it needs to be B )
