Hello guys,

My specs are:
i5 (2012)
8g ram
SSD
asus gtx 570 dcu
e.t.c

its not a really great pc ,it was also a mid spec one when i bought it in 2012. i have recently upgraded my monitor to 4k 60hz samsung, but not even dreaming of gaming at that resolution.

I am having a hard time trying to play new games (like tom clancy's division minium requirement was a 570) so i bought it for ps4. anyway i want to be able to play some new games without having to min the settings and also dont want to throw my money away, i have done some research on gpu's and found out that GTX 970 is a nice choice (sells for 450$ in my country/Turkey), but it is from 2014. SO it makes me think paying 450 dollars for a 2 year old card.

What are your thoughts on the subject? im not in a hurry, maybe if i wait for the pascal series i can buy 970 for a much less price.
all comments welcome.

Get a 1070. It is way more then worth the wait. Recent benchmarks show that the 1070 is almost 2x faster then the 970 and just a little better in performance then the titan x! (http://videocardz.com/60265/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-3dmark-firestrike-benchmarks) The 1070 is about 50 us dollars more then a 970

I don't think there are usually drastic drops in GPUs when new cards come out. The 970 hasn't moved much since the 980ti came out and I remember people wanting to wait for the prices to drop. They've fallen maybe 5-15$USD in the last year? It won't be anything drastic if that's what you're holding out for.

Since you have the 4k monitor I want to say start saving for a completely new and updated build, but you aren't looking to game at 4k so I'm a little torn. I would almost say sell the monitor for a 120hz something and then get a new GPU like the 970 for the better improvement now. Otherwise, with a new build, I would say start saving and plan on building late this year (depending on when the next title release is that you want to play on the PC).

Wait; see what Pascal brings to the table, then decide to go for the 970 or 1070? equivalent. Price probably won't drop a whole lot, but might slightly with some deals on old inventory.

One of the big benefits to the 1070 might be 4 GB (or more) VRAM @ full speed.

The GTX1070 and 1080 have been revealed! And honestly, I'm waiting for Pascal. Thought I would be wary of your CPU bottlenecking that GPU, as far as I know it wouldn't be that drastic as the i5-2xxx(?) series are still great CPUs.
