Which Gaming PC Build?

I am building a gaming PC (but it won't be used only for gaming). I have two builds that I am considering. The first has an i7-6700k with a 980 for 1080p and has a better mouse. The second build has an i5-6600k and a 980 Ti for 1440p. My worry with the second build is that the 980 Ti won't be enough for 1440p soon. And also if I ever need to add another in SLI I'm afraid of the i5 being a bottleneck. Both monitors have G-Sync. Which build would you recommend and why? Thanks! (Budget: ~$2000)

He's getting downvoted for the wrong reason. He is right with his post, the first monitor in the build is 1080p and the second build includes a 1440p monitor. That's what he's talking about.

Either build is ok for 1440p with the 980ti getting an obvious edge. It will be MANY years before a 980Ti is won't be good enough for the newest 1440p games. I really would not bother worrying about that.

Gaming wise the i5 is fine, few games realize the benefits of the i7, the 980 ti makes up for it far more when it comes to gaming.

The second one definetly. The 6600k has almost the same gaming preformance as the 6700k. 1440p is possible with both card but the 980ti will last you longer. If you go into sli with gtx980ti s you outpreform a titanX, 4k possible. But for me the XFX p1-750s-nlb9 750w is a bit better. You may also go for the cryorig h5 ultimate :)

1440p can be played but u know that it wont give decent fps like a 980ti does
