Hi Guys. I am facing a Problem with my USB Ports....

"Previous Thread Starts"

Some days ago I Plugged a faulty USB in my USB 3.0 Port, as i plugged in the USB my PC froze and i had to restart it with the Reset switch, After restarting it. The mouse, keyboard and no other USB port was working....

I started searching on internet about this problem. I tried too many fixes some of them are listed below but none worked
1. Updated Bios.
2. Downgraded Bios Then Upgraded The Bios
3. Cleared CMOS
4. Installed The Latest USB Drivers With PS2 Mouse
5. Did Some other fixes
6. Talked With Microsoft Tech Guy

Nothing worked, then i wanted to reinstall the Windows, but at the Windows 10 setup screen i faced again the same problem....
Then i booted windows 7 and it worked i installed Windows 7 and guess what... I found that Windows 7 dose not have USB 3.0 drivers built in, you have to manually install them. Which was good for me.
Now when i went in device manager, i saw a yellow mark on (UNKNOWN DEVICE), which i knew was the USB 3.0, so i downloaded the latest Intel 3.0 USB drivers to see if it worked, as i installed them i got again the same problem, when i remove them its fine everything works, but as i install them all ports stops working. Meanwhile, i hadn't noticed that my Ethernet is also not working. It is not even showing up in the Device manager, which is not a big issue because i am using TP-Link Wireless connection. So Anyone who is expert please help me.

I also have contacted MSI, but you know they reply late and i cant wait for that.

Update -----

So after doing everything in my hand.... Nothing worked....
Then i just installed windows 10 again, deleted the USB drivers from the Device manager, and as i restarted the PC everything worked in windows 10(Except Lan) which is fine i dont need the LAN. Can someone tell me whats happening?

But when i shutdown the computer or restart it, i have to again uninstall the USB drivers and restart my PC...

NOTE: Someone on my previous thread told me that there is problem in my Chipset, but i dont think so....

1. Might I ask where you hail from/currently residing?

2. Surely the person who said the issue is with your chipset might've said that it's absurd to replace your chipset unless he's stated to go for a different motherboard.

3. I said that part of the board might've died from experiencing a power spike/surge - from a lightning strike or fluctuations in your voltage.

4. Both brands of PSU's have been stated but you didn't mention their model numbers. Please pass them on.

5. With all this time spent trying to fix the issue, you could move for a cheap Z97 board off of Ebay or your local computer store and get your system moving forward. I doubt you're yet under warranty but if you are, best inform the retailer of your...

After reading your post, we were able to piece together MSI as your motherboard maker, Windows 10 and 7 as your OSes and TP-Link as your networking adapter for wireless internet. All of which are too vague to understand the culprit in your situation let alone the chipsets used on your system to run your USB ports. Some boards tend to bundle third party USB controllers to keep costs down or simply because Intel didn't release it at the point of time. Please pass on you full system's specs inclusive of the culprit peripherals.

If you're yet on Windows 10, please disable automatic device driver updates.

I am very very sorry to reply so late, i am still on windows 10, after disabling the automatic device driver updates, the problem still persists.

Removed the Tp-link and everything, still no luck, and in my bios my motherboard even does not shows any ethernet hardware, when i just hover my mouse to the ethernet icon, nothing no name appears. Plus in device manager i dont have any ethernet hardware for which i have to install the drivers. Thats why i am using Tp-Link.

Full System Specs....

Processor: Intel i7 4770k
Ram: 16G Corsair Dominator with some errors in memtest86
Motherboard; Msi Z87-G43 Gaming
PSU: Corsair GS800 Gaming
Storage; 1 Green Cavier 500 GB, 2 ADATA SSD 120 GB
NO GPU.

Peripherals when connected
1. Logitech Gaming Mouse G502
2. Dell Smart Card Reader Keyboard
3. Tp-Link Wireless Adapter
3. A PS2 Mouse To Fix The Problems
All USB Ports And Internet Ports Stops Working, When i disable the usb drivers and uninstall them from the device manager and shut down the computer and run it again, starts working, but if i restart them it wont work.
The network port dosent starts working even when the USB ports are fixed.

Ah the MSI Gaming series of boards, the culprit found within that board is actually the Killer NIC. Try disabling that and ofc installing your USB drivers after enabling the ports to see if they work. I would ask you to connect all your peripherals on the existing USB2.0 ports and not the USB3.0 ports without unnecessarily adding more to the mix. Remove the PS/2 Mouse and in the meantime, make sure that your BIOS is up to date - which should be done manually and not through an (third party) app.

The issue with the ethernet port, is that seen in Windows 7 and 10 or on only one of them? Pertaining to your TP-link wireless adapter, you forgot to mention the model number...and the SKU for your ram's. Are they running off all 4 ram slots? The latest drivers for the Killer NIC can be found here or here.

Can you by any chance relay the model number for your dell keyboard? Does it require drivers to operate? We're dealing with a card reader on the keyboard which can mean it's a hub/extension.

Lastly, why is there an 800W PSU in a system with no GPU? Try and source another PSU of better quality and of lower wattage and try and see if the issue is persistent. Might I ask where you hail from?

If you mean by disabling the Killer Nic in bios, i have already done that but no luck.

Connected all peripherals on USB 2.0 and nothing on the 3.0 removed PS2 Mouse and the bios are up to date through USB no luck still.

The issue with the ethernet port is seen in both 7 and windows 10 it just dosent works at all, because in device manager and in my bios both i dont have a ethernet driver in my board thats weird. See The Below Image

The Tp-Link model is TL-WN722N

Another weird thing is my ram does not show up the serial number, i think thats what SKU means, look at the below image. And only 2 slots are reserved its a 16G Ram 2 dims.

I can not install drivers for my ethernet killer because look at the below image.

The model number of my keyboard is in the below link, have checked other keyboards as well but no luck. The drivers installs automatically.
Dell DJ741 Smart Card Reader Keyboard

There is a 800 PSU because i am intending to buy a GPU, i have also run my PC on a 500W PSU but no luck still...

I didn't ask for the serial number, I asked for the model number. Regardless I found this to be your kit. You're running them at 1866MHz? Pertaining to your BIOS identifier for your LAN port, does it yet do that when in BIOS or does it show just a blank slot?

I'd stay away from that PSU since it's build quality is questionable at best+it's not a new unit either. On another note, I'm going to have to go full out and say that if in spite of changing between a known functioning OS(Windows 7) alongside known functioning drivers then the issue is that your LAN NIC is simply dead(provided you're on the latest MEI and chipset drivers). It's possible that the system had encountered some power spikes or that your residence has a grounding issue to cause your system to deteriorate. I've had an old Intel build show the same issue. I could enable and disable the NIC but it would refuse to co-operate both in BIOS and in OS. I figured out that the inability for the BIOS to identify a MEI/|MAC address courtesy of my LAN port meant it's dead+the LAN activity LED's were solid(ON) all the time in spite of shutting down the system.

Might I ask what 500W PSU you used to undergo your troubleshooting route? On another note, might I ask where you hail from?

Well i run my Ram on XMP Profile 1866 MHz, If i disable the XMP Profile the ram will run on 1666 MHz, on both Mhz, the problem is there. The ram are shown correctly in the board explorer or identifier, but the problem is with the port.

The PSU was Xegmagtek, but i have also tried with a Thermaltake PSU.

I think i should stop trying to find a fix, i think the problem is with the motherboard something is broken or dead as you said. Someone said to me that the problem is in the panther point and you have to replace the Chipset, look at the below image, what do you think about it?

This is all coming from a prerequisite that you've tried with the latest MEI and chipset drivers and found no fruition ion your efforts.

I am residing In Pakistan.

He said to claim for RMA, but i contacted MSI they refused and said i have Local Warranty for my MOBO.

The first PSU was Tauro Power Force 500
2. Thermaltake dont know the model now

Electronics here are expensive, but definitely i will be looking to buy a new one now.

^ Now that makes it a little more relevant. Have you tried pursuing your seller and see if they can honor you of your warranty(provided you're yet within warranty period)? I said retailer and not MSI since their policy with RMA's are directed to the person/shop who sold that board to you. I don't live far from you and have gone through some of the issues you face being in the Asian Subcontinent.

As per your two power supplies, you should follow this tier list and pick a unit that is close as possible to Tier 1 to know your system isn't under any imminent danger/thread.

Thank you for selecting my post as the Best Answer but did it truly help you out? I think the post was selected by accident...? If so I'd be glad to remove it.

No it wasnt selected by accident, i did it.

And you may have lived in Asian Subcontitent, but you havent lived in Pakistan, there is no such thing as honor here. If i gave the shop my board, i will never see it again man. Just pray that i get out of there and go somewhere, where people knows how to honor deals and promises.

By the way, thanks alot for helping me.

Nah, it's about how far you're going to go when it comes to a shouting match...you're th customer and you should be able to fight against those who don't honor the product's warranty. In fact you should say that you as a customer help fuel their business so you might want them to keep the stuff and ask them to fund their lives with dishonored goods ;)

I've done so in the past and the shop keepers think twice before they say that something is wrong or is user error. BTW, yeah I know what it's like in your country...I'm your neighbor, literally.

Since the answer for this thread has been selected the thread will be marked as solved but I'm not going to close it in hopes that you'll be passing on a followup to your board's replacement. Deal or would you like I close this thread?

;)
