I want to build a budget gaming rig and I think the GTX 960 AMP! EDITION gpu is a good choice. But is it a decent gpu for modern games(looking for high, not ultra resolution). Further in India, the R9-380 is rupees 10,000 more expensive than the GTX 960. Is there a considerable difference between the two GPUs? That's all, all comments will be appreciated:)

Solution

The 380 "might" get 3 or 4 fps more in some games but it uses 70W more to get those couple of frames.

It's highly unlikely that current prices will drop as the production of Maxwell stopped a little while ago so it won't be long before stocks dwindle. The Pascal version of the 960 is not due till October btw.

Thanks. But will the Pascal version have a higher clock frequency (unlikely as you people are saying it will reduce cost) or its just something which is more quiter, cooler, efficient, etc? I don't think I will get much more performance if I wait and buy Pascal version than the normal ones, correct me if I am wrong. Thanks for all the speedy replies :)

It's a different architecture so cannot be compared by clockspeeds.
