Hello guys,

I have an interesting dilemma that I hope you guys could shed some light on, or just push me in the right direction.

I am currently using a BT Home Hub 5 on a 'Up to 76MB' fiber connection. My brother, who is downstairs next to the hub (grr) is wired and gets the usual speeds of 60Mbps +. I on the other hand am upstairs and by the time the network is being used at its peak, I get around 25Mbps.

I am currently using a USB Belkin N300 Micro which I understand isn't all that great.

I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions as to what I could do to boost my speeds? I have separated the 2.4 and 5GHz frequencies but I'm not able to test to see if the less-congested channels will benefit me due to my network adapter not supporting 5Ghz frequencies.

What would you suggest I start off doing to improve speeds? I would presume a new wireless network adapter for starters.

Thanks.

Solution
Try setting your HUB to N only, set it to 2.4GHz only, setting it to channel 1,6,or 11, (which ever channel is least used in your vicinity), and set it to WPA2 AES only.
