It comes with a cooler with thermal compound pre-applied You do not need to buy it.

If you do buy an aftermarket cooler all do come with thermal compound to use as well.

its best to get good quality thermal paste and use it the [if any] that may be ''stuck'' on the stock cooler is not that great and no telling how old ..

now if you go with a aftermarket cpu cooler they put a small tube in with them ??

use good fresh known stuff

personally I would get that stuff off and get some good fresh stuff and do a proper paste job
