SSD Compatibility DELL XPS 15Z

I have a Dell XPS15Z with Western Digital HDD(Specs: 750GB, 7200rpm, SATA 2.6, 3GB/s).
As my HDD is having a bad sector after chkdsk I am trying to upgrade to a new SSD than HDD for obvious reasons. My laptop is 3.5 years old but in good condition.

Would SATA 3, 6GB/s will be a compatible one for my laptop? Any other recommendations?

That's what i thought too. So in this case buying SATA 2 or 3 is same I guess. In fact instead of buying SSD I could just get a SATA 2 HDD, correct?
