Brother printer keeps dropping off my network

I was recently sent a new wireless router by my ISP, TWC, when they gave me a free upgrade to 300Mbps service. Previously I had been using a separate TWC modem and my own wireless router. Only about a month or two before getting the new TWC router I had just replaced my previous wireless router. So, when I set up the new modem I just used my previous wireless network name and password (I had just changed them when I bought the previous new router 2 months ago) to save myself the trouble of having to change the passwords on everything in my house.

Everything has worked fine with leaving the network name the same except for my printer, a Brother MFC-J4510DW. Every time it goes into sleep mode it drops off my network and my PC and laptops can't find it. I have to turn the printer off and back on again so my computers can see it again.

I'm assuming the culprit was leaving the network name the same since I've had this printer for several years and never had a single problem until I made the change in my router. I've changed routers in the past and not had this problem.

Any idea how I can get the printer to stop acting up? I can't find the manual so I don't know how to do a factory reset, but maybe that would fix it?

It is more likely the difference in the behavior of the router rather than leaving the SSID the same. It may age out the printer's MAC address quickly when the printer is in sleep mode because it doesn't see it as a device. You could ask TWC if your previous modem is acceptable for 300Mb service. If so ask to have your old modem setup for your service. Then you keep your old router.

Changing the router isn't going to be possible since the router change was necessary to get the increased speed. I never checked, but it probably wasn't DOCSIS 3.0.

It has to be possible. You old modem may not be acceptable, but TWC does publish a list of approved modems for 300Mbit - http://www.timewarnercable.com/content/dam/residential/pdfs/support/internet/twc-compatible-modems.pdf
You can still buy a modem and use your old router.

If you don't care to do that, you can setup your old router as a WIFI access point -- http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/36406-43-convert-wireless-router-wireless-access-point and use IT to connect the printer.
