Run a GTX 980 TI in same computer as a GTX 760

I'm thinking of upgrading from a GTX 760 4GB to a GTX 980 TI with 4 or 6GB, but I was wondering if it is possible to run both at the same time? I know I can't exactly SLI link them, but could I use the 980 for main gaming monitor, and use the 760 for separate chat/stream monitoring m? Or would having 2 separate GPU's not SLI linked cause issues?

Additional specs
AMD fx 6300 processor (hyper 212 EVO heatsync)
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard
700w power supply
8gb DDR3 RAM

Solution
You can do what you described, however dont bother getting the 980Ti. Your 6300 will heavily bottleneck anything more powerful than a 970, so I would invest in a new processor and motherboard first.
