In my HAF X the hotswap works but the computer takes 2 full minutes to realize the hard drives been plugged out and 30 seconds to realize it's been plugged in but I can browse files on a very good speed. Is this something I should worry about. Also the HDD is about 10 years old.

Solution
Yea must be. I used my just yesterday with a older 2TB Green and a 240 Intel SSD and Instant disconnect and reconnect. I would try to find another drive to test it out with as well.
It could be the old hard drive but it is also more so on the Motherboard. i have the HAF X and I have my SSD in the built in Hot Swap Bay and i use the other plus two other adding HDD Caddys to swap hard drives in and out. I have a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 AMD Motherboard with a AMD FX 8320 in it. I'm actually using it tonight going though about 9 hard drives to see if i should keep them or toss them and it is instantaneous on the swap.

I have a GA 990 FXA-UD3 R5 and a FX 8320 as well but do l today I asked someone and they said it was only so site l slow because the OS on the slow HDD was trying to bind on to the mobo. Also maybe it's just slow and if I try another HDD that doesn't have an OS installed it could be faster. Also can you confirm that the HAF X has a fast hotswap. Meaning is it quick to respond on newer HDDs.

Like i said i just used it yesterday. I use it on all kinds of HDD's old and new and I don't have an issue with it taking long. What version of windows do you have? I do know Windows 10 does hot swap faster than windows 7. and host swap is hot swap. All that board in there is a pass though board to connect the drive to the sata cable. There is no "Fast Hot Swap" There is only Hot Swap and How fast the motherboard/RAID card can refresh the drive.

I have Windows 10 and should I worry about the response times. Should I replace the board that connects the HDD to the mobo if it's at fault. Or am I missing drivers or something.

I connected the HDD while the computer was running without using the hotswap bay and the thing took forever. So I guess that it is the Drive
