My setup:

  • *AMD FX-8350
    *CoolerMaster Seidon 120v
    *GIGABYTE R9 280x 3 gb
*Kingston HyperX Blu 2x4 @1600 MHz
    *FSP AS-600 (600w)
So it's been a while I'm getting this problem. Sometimes the PC freezes or does a BSOD.
I ran games like GTA V and Arma 3 fine, around 40 fps all maxed out.
Now I get 20 fps EVERYTHING ON LOW.

Tried to format, nothing. Reinstalled Windows, nothing.

I've tried everything, help! I want my good old performance!

P.S. not virus, scanned 20 times
P.P.S. it's not because my drives are full, I'm so ordered I tend to OCD

Solution

Yeah, it seems that the motherboard is faulty that somehow the CPU cannot be utilized fully.
If i would say bottlenecks, its impossible since you mentioned that you are able to play everything on max before.
You can go to the local PC store for them to test out out for you.

What motherboard are you using and what case are you using plus the fan config inside it? The frame drops might be due to VRMs throttling due to inadequate cooling.

BSOD's during gaming, or regular usage has something with the motherboard failing.

Do you monitor temps while gaming using HWMonitor? Run it while gaming and post a snip of the readouts.
Game on like for 2-3 minutes.

Overheating (either motherboard or CPU) is one of the only things that can cause both reduced performance (throttling) and crashes. If your CPU or RAM were failing, they would simply not crash, your performance would not be affected between crashes.

Ok my FPS are fixe by disabling 2 cores (didn't work) ad reenabling them, but I've got another problem: the pc just freezes
The power button doesn't even work, I need to plug it off

Signs of a dying motherboard. Did it take you several times of plugging and unplugging to turn the PC on now?
Did you game on it after disabling the cores?

Okay then, try playing for a while and see whether the lag strikes again or not.

I repeat, the fps are ok!
It's just that it randomly freezes. Happened 3 times in 15 minutes, maybe less.

Thats good and bad news too. Mine (My old FX rig) doesnt suffer from FPS drops but it suffers on random crashes during gaming or medium workloads like Photoshop. In the end, it cant be turned on due to the motherboard failing.

Try changing the SATA power port of your hardisk to the ones that are unused, see whether the freezing stops.
