Do I upgrade 1155 mobo or 1150 board and CPU?

I have an Asus P8P67 LE with an i5-3340 and 16GB DDR3 ram.

The problem I have is the motherboard though, I can only use one of the USB 3.0 ports as the other doesn't work, and I don't have all the SATA 3 ports working. So my query is, do look for an upgrade for motherboard on 1155 or both motherboard and CPU on the 1150?

Any help appreciated.

Ivy bridge is still a pretty solid CPU so there isn't a huge need to replace that CPU. Haswell isn't a huge performance bump and Skylake would really leave you needing to factor in the cost of DD4 RAM as well. My take on it is, if money isn't a big issue then go for the upgrade and ebay your CPU and get an i5-6600k/i5-6600, you get a modern chipset and a bump in performance.

If your budget is very restricted then I would just shop around for a decent Ivy Bridge board.

I'd rather stick with the CPU and RAM I've already got as I recently purchased 2x4GB DDR3 and I don't really have the budget to go all out, priced up a system on CCLOnline and it's coming to around £600 keeping my current RAM and GPU but moving to an 1150 mobo and CPU.

So I guess my question would be, what do you recommend which has fair options for both USB 3.0 and Sata 6Gbps on the 1155. Would also like to move to the Intel LAN port as I'm using my PC as a wireless hub for the other devices in my room.

That is a bit tricky there were a couple of boards that I was thinking of suggesting but they don't seem to be available anymore. I am in the UK and most suppliers have very limited selections for socket 1155. You could probably get a decent board 'new' from Ebay but the ones I found on traditional retailers over here i.e. Scan, Ebuyer etc were low end boards and wouldn't suit your requirements.

There were some ASUS P8Z77-M PRO listed as new stock, that is a decent board and personally I have always like ASUS boards.

Well, Asus's newer versions of your board (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67_LE/specifications/) would probably work for you:
-- 3 SATA III/6Gbps ports (2 via the P67 chipset, 1 via the Marvell controller), in addition to 4 SATA II/3Gbps, 1 eSATA, & 1 PATA ports
-- 2 USB 3.0 ports (back panel), in addition to up to 14 USB 2.0 ports (6 back panel, 8 via ports on the motherboard)
-- built-in Realtek LAN port

Their PRO board is similar (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67_PRO/specifications/), but swaps the older PATA port for a 2nd SATA III port, swaps one of the board USB 2.0 plugs for a USB 3.0 plug (allowing for 4 USB 3.0 & 12 USB 2.0 ports), swaps the Realtek LAN port for an Intel brand LAN port, & swaps the 3rd PCI slot for a 2nd full-speed PCIe 2.0 x16 slot.

There's even their Z77 WS offering (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77_WS/specifications/): 6 USB 3.0 ports (plus 9 USB 2.0), 4 SATA III & 4 SATA II ports, 4 PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (full x16 for dual, x16/x8/x8 triple, or full x8 for quad) in place of the PCIe x16 slots & the old PCI slots, & dual Intel LAN jacks.

P8Z77 WS
P8Z68 Deluxe/GEN3
P8Z68 Pro/GEN3

I have a GTX 750Ti GPU and Asus Xonar DGX PCI Express 5.1-Channel Gaming Audio Card to fit in the PCIe slots as I'm looking at changing my asus wireless card to

What do you guys think? Thank you so much for your help on this so far.
