Can I have ram with one 8gb in slot and another 4gb in slot?

That ram is the right speed for your computer so it should work along side your 4gb one. Now-a-days you can mix different size rams. However ram is finicky. I have seen some weird things.

Just in case make sure you can return it in a worst case situation

I went with the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB ram and it worked. Thanks.
