AMD FX 8350 overheating?

Hey guys and gals, quick question. I have an AMD FX 8350 and when I play some games, usually graphic intensive games, it gets to about 60-65 C. I think I read 51-55C is too hot. I recently put on a Zalman CNPS14X Pure Aluminum High Performance 140mm Fan heatsink on it and it idles cooler but gaming still seems to get up there. I'm using ceramique 2 thermal compound and have an MSI GTX 970 in it as well with a front and rear case fan. Just wondering if I'm okay running it where it's at or do I risk damaging the CPU?

It's functioning quite well, just not sure where the cutoff would be.

And forgive me ignorance, what is 125 tdp?

Few questions for you

1. How are you measuring temps ??
2.what are your ambient (room temps) ?
3. Are you sure the centre fan on your heatsink is orientated the right way round?? Should be dragging air in from the ram side ,& pushing it out the back to the case exhaust fan.

Your temps are safe , but knowing that the cnps14 is a bit of a beast of a cooler they still look higher than they should be.

Download amd overdrive

& Intel burntest

Install amd overdrive , & open the CPU status tab then do an Intel burn test run.

A couple of minutes will get you to your max temp so just let us know the thermal margin shown while its running , you can stop the test then.

I use the onboard ASUS thermal radar that came with the motherboard. ambient room temps are probably 68-70F and yes I am sure the sure the heatsink fan is right. At least according to the directions it is. After five minutes of running the intel burn test the thermal margin got down to 18C.

A thermal margin of 18c is a core temp of around 55c.
At 100% load under burn test there's nothing wrong at all with that result.

Ignore your Asus monitoring software , I'd 100% trust overdrive over anything apart from bios temps.

You're good to go with nothing to worry about

Awesome, so instead of using the ASUS monitoring system just keep an eye on the thermal margin on overdrive instead? THanks a lot for your help guys.
