There are plenty of articles out there to help, many of which are on this site, but at it's core, it's not that difficult if you're careful and detail-oriented. Get a grounding strap for your wrist (You'll see a lot of people, loudly, state that they never use them, but they're $5 insurance, so why wouldn't you?) and make sure to use the case stand-off pins. Those are the two biggest things that people forget to do.

Other than that, don't force any parts into place - they either fit, or they don't, and forcing will just break them or bend pins. You only mentioned mobo and processor, but make sure you have compatible memory to go with whatever you get as well.

On the main page, you will see links to updated tiers of each component. These are mostly updated monthly, and will give you good breakdowns of what's good in several price groups, along with pros/cons of those components.

You will need DDR4 ram and an aftermarket cooler. Skylake 'K' series processors don't come with stock coolers.

That is a Haswell processor(4th Gen) while the 6600K is Skylake(6th Gen). Only Skylake supports DDR4 ram.

Building your own computer is easy. Building it takes 2-3 hours, and installing windows takes about 30mins to 45mins, and after that downloading and installing drivers takes another 30-45 mins. After all that, have it download windows updates at night, it may take a 2-4 passes to get them all.

Installing Windows:

Protip for installing drivers safely, install them one at a time and restart the computer after each install to avoid breaking the OS, which can happen if you try to install them all at once.
