Port forwarding is not working no matter what I do

Hey guys,
So I've been having a very annoying issue with my router.
port forwarding simply does not seem to be working with it no matter what I do!
So I'm trying to play online games on my PS4 and failing to connect to other players, I check my network status and it says (NAT Type: 3), which means strict. (wired connection)
So I set a static IP for the PS4 and went into the setting of my router and forwarded the necessary ports, but I still get the same Nat Type.
One thing that I tried to do is bypass my router and connect through the modem directly and it showed Nat Type: 1, which is terrific but I'm not going to disconnect my router every time I want to play a game.
Even went as far as to update the firmware of the router which again did not help a bit.
And I've reached a point where there's nothing else that I can do.
So if somebody can provide me with the solution I'd be really happy.

Solution
Is this router yours or your internet providers? I have seen some internet provided routers not allow port forwarding. I have also seen firewalls on routers block port forwarding or you have to change the firewall settings to allow it.

It's a TP-Link WR-740N, I bought it myself.
about the firewall settings, I don't understand much of it but I'll look it up right away.
