Computer lag after 15-17 GB of downloading a large game

While I am downloading a game, such as GTA V or Battlefield 4, I get around 15 to 17 GB into the download and my computer starts to lag profusely. I then proceed to restart my computer and restart the download after I log back into windows. I would like to find a solution to this problem. I think it could be the ram because I notice that the percentage used rises after a while of downloading. If it is ram, then what would be the solution to the problem. Thanks in advance :)

I have 8 GB of ram and it is using around 50% when the download is going on.

I have an SSD that my OS and some of my games are on. I have experienced this lag when I was downloading to my hard drive and maybe my SSD, I can't remember for sure.

Well now the task manager is saying that it is using 80% of my ram. I have been downloading a large game to use as tests and I think that it is definitely a ram related problem.
P.S. I didn't mean to down vote your reply, sorry

So should I buy more ram or is there another solution that I could do. Buying more ram seems like a simple and pretty cheap fix, judging on how low the cost of 16 GB of ram is right now
