Hi,

So i recently added a few parts to my PC, and i am planning on getting an I7 Procceser next month to add to my pc. The build i am hoping to achieve in 2 months time is this http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/TwqLVn however i'm not too sure if this is over kill. Games i play mostly are Arma 3/2, CS:GO, Starcraft 2 and Dota 2, BF3/4 - This is the build i have so far http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/9tKPyc - What do i need to upgrade, money isn't too much of an issue. Just looking for advise on what to get and are the parts i'm hoping to obtain over kill. Any advise is appreciated

Solution
If it were me, I'd return the RAM and go for a Skylake build. I'd also get an EVGA Supernova G2 750W PSU.

As for the GPU, I'd wait for Pascal and see how it performs before buying anything.
I assume you'll be using just the BenQ monitor for gaming? If so, you'll be better served with a GTX 970. The 980 Ti is for 2560x1440 144hz monitors.

You could also change the CPU to an i5-6600K and get a Z170 motherboard, along with some DDR4 RAM. The i7 is great for heavily multi-threaded tasks such as video rendering, but not so much for gaming.

Finally, change the PSU for a higher quality model. Consult the PSU tier list at http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html.

The issue i have is the ram i just purchased and installed last night, which is DDR3 and i don't mind purchasing a new motherboard for a Intel socket but i would be needing a 1150 socket along those lines, and a good i5 to fit to this, what would you recommend? I know i said money isn't an issue but purchasing some RAM for the motherboard i have now due to me previously blue screening due to my old RAM, i wouldn't want to waste this. What would be recommended? Also what would be the recommended watts i would need for my PSU? So far i'm working well on the one i have, would 600 watts be recommended for adding anything further?

I'll stick with a i5, how about PSU wise? Recommended amount i would need? i've looked on the list and most of the ones that are there are nigh on 1000 watts which i wouldn't need in my case (Pun not intended) what would you recommend?

If you go with the GTX 970 then 550W, and if you go with the GTX 980 Ti, then 650W. If you plan to SLI then you should go with 750W and 1000W respectively. That said, an i5 isn't particularly suitable for SLI anyway.

There's no harm in going for an overkill PSU, so I'd recommend that. It'll also give you room to expand the build.

So which would be the better option i5-6600k vs i5-4690k, and with the GPU i'll obtain an 980 Ti in the later month. Would a Corsair RM1000X be recommended as a PSU?
