Is it still beneficial to have SSD (other than boot times) if the apps and games are installed on HDD? Will the loading times still improve?

Solution
If your applications (games) are on the HDD the SSD will have no affect on them. For games with long load times like fallout 4 <-- really any bethesda game you will see a noticeable improvement if you move them to the SSD.

Having your OS on the SSD makes everything faster, not just booting, but any task that requires the system back end to be accessed.

However if primarily your games and applications are on a HDD their loading times only very slightly benefit from this, as most of their loading is done from the HDD. It does make some difference but not much.

Personally, I will always put an SSD into every computer I build or buy. It massively speeds up the boot times (even when Windows updates), loads programs and games faster, and just makes everything in general feel snappier. Once you have one, you won't go back.
