Hyper 212 EVO Idle temp a bit high?

Hello guys, I just installed my new Hyper 212 EVO onto my I5-4690k stock and so far Ive only noticed a 10c difference from the stock cooler while on idle. With the EVO it is usually switching between 33-34 and sometimes jump to 40c but I noticed that it might be ambient temperature because it is only 40c when my AC is off and 33 when AC is on. I see people idle at 27c so should I be worried or anything? I do have an NZXT s340 which kind of has a bad airflow. I have one fan in the front that is on the top and one in the back exhausting. So could it be airflow or a defected cooler? I'm not as worried because when I stress test gta 5 max settings I only reach 45-47c Max.

If you want to be sure, test it on a CPU specific stress test. Maybe your idle temps are high because the controller is set to a really low fan speed when the CPU is under 50. And of course the temp will never go under ambient.

If your ambient temp is around 28C or higher this temps are perfectly normal.
What your looking at is as you suspected, ambient temps.

Bear in mind the human body is at 36.4C on average, so 40C for a cpu at idle is nothing to worry about is it.

It`s more a point of what the cpu reaches under a heavy load, or a prime 95 test that tells you how well a cooler is doing it job.
And at 45C-47C it`s doing a very good job if the cpu is under load at the time.

This is a safe temperature, but you should really improve the airflow of your case — at least 1 intake and 2 exhaust fans. However, you should stress test for like 20 minutes to see how high the temperatures get. If they hit above 80°C (Devil's Canyon safe temp), then you may want to try reapplying thermal paste. If you overclocked your CPU though, that's a totally different story.
