My cpu is overheating I need your help

When i first built my pc i noticed that when i downloaded HWMonitor the cpu temperature was over 60c idle and that is a high temperature so what i did is buy an artic silver 5 thermal paste and reinstalled my heatsink (stock cooler from AMD athlon X4 840k) using pea method didnt fix my problem what can i do

Well the issue could be that you are using an older CPU with newer software, which means it sin't as lightweight, so it is taking more of your CPU to run. Also, stock coolers are basically garbage.

Trust me, stock coolers are garbage. And your CPU is a little tiny but worse than some i3 processors, so you aren't packing much power at all. What the rest of your setup? Including case and fan installation on said case. Oh my god a built in power supply? That shit....no.
