Hey guys pretty straight forward question. I recently upgraded my processor and video card, now my PC is constantly freezing whenever I start gaming. It first started with only CS:GO and now it happens as I try to play the new release Overwatch :p. I downloaded CoreTemp and I re installed my heatsink with less thermal paste so I have ruled out overheating. My GPU temp is sometimes high but is nowhere near hot enough to shut down max 80~. My next issue is maybe my mobo bios needs to be updated but when I checked the website it said I was updated as I could be so I am stumped there as I wouldnt know how to do it anyway. My last guess is that maybe I need to do a fresh install of Windows 8 but before that I just wanted to see if there were any other things I could try before committing to re installing Windows 8 Thanks guys.

Components

Processor : AMD Fx 8350
GPU : Radeon r9 380
Mobo : Asus M5a78-m USB 3.0
PSU : Coolermaster 700w
Ram : Ballistix 2x 4g

As far as I know Windows 8 had a long list of issues(outside of not having a start button) thus the birth of Windows 8.1. That being said, have you manually downloaded the BIOS from Asus's site and applied it to your board? Also, are you talking about the M5A78L-M/USB 3? If so, it shows that you have BIOS version 2101 as the latest update. I can't find the page for your motherboard with the model number you've stated.

Did you reinstall your GPU drivers using this guide? Might also want to pass on the model for the CM PSU. One other thing to do is run memtest86[/ur] for at least 10 passes and see if any errors come up.
