Hello everyone. I built my first PC last month, and at first I noticed that my motherboard temps were really high, like in the 70s, but then I noticed that there was a sticker on the inside of the case. Took it off, the temps went to normal.

Yesterday I was playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate, and while both my CPU and GPU had decent temps (CPU in the 60s, GPU in the 50s), I noticed that my motherboard was in the high 70s. Now, at idle, it's hovering between 50C and 55C.

I keep an eye on temps and check them whenever I play games for a long time, and this is the first time the motherboard started acting up like this.

These are my specs and their temps as I was writing this post, copied from Speccy.

CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K @ 3.50GHz 46 °C
RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel @ 1499MHz (15-17-17-35)
Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z170 PRO GAMING (LGA1151) 55 °C
Graphics: 8192MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 390 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner) 40 °C
Storage: 223GB Corsair Force LE SSD (SSD), 30 °C and 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-00WN4A0 (SATA) 30 °C
.
I have the Coolermaster Hyper 212X CPU cooler, a Corsair Carbide Series Spec Alpha case that has two front fans and one in the back.

Any help would really be appreciated as I think this isn't a good sign - the motherboard is normally around 20-35C if I remember correctly. I saved up for months and waited for years to build my own computer, and I don't want it to have to break.

If you need any more info, please let me know.

Hmm, I guess that might affect it. I'll wait and see if there are any more answers, but if not I'll give it a try. The cooler was a bitch to install, so I'm not looking forward to doing it again.

So I apparently had the CPU fan seated the wrong way, I fixed it and the CPU idle temps went down a bit, haven't tried it under load yet.

As for the motherboard, could it be that the Speccy readings are wrong? CPUID Hardware Monitor has 5 different readings, the SYSIN and TMPIN3 are almost identical to the one Speccy gives, but the other 3 are in the 30s. The ASUS AISuite3 reports a steady 31C.

I'm confused =|
