Hey guys,

I got this CPU few hours ago..

The performance is great even in games..

But the temperature reaches 100 Degree Celsius!!

I have not overclocked my CPU.. I dunno what is causing this issue..

The temperature is between 80-100 Degree C when playing games (I mostly play GTA V)

The temperature is between 40-50 Degree C when I'm not playing games..

This kinda temperature can damage my CPU right?

What Can I do to fix it?

I applied thermal paste when I installed this CPU..

And yeah! The Fan Speed of my CPU stays at 40%.. It can be an issue.. So how can I tune the CPU Fan Speed? Is there some kinda software?

Solution

You didn't fix it...
If you limit yourself to 75% power you should be below 70°C on the STOCK cooler that comes free with the CPU
Either your expensive cooler is not working properly
Or you motherboard is applying WAY too much voltage. Check if your Core Voltage is...

I would think your heatsink/fan assembly is either not screwed in right, or it has a defect. Try a different heatsink. Also, I would NEVER use the intel stock cooler with that CPU, however these temps should be lower even with the stock heatsink.

Also, I believe your computer would shut off when it reached 100 deg C. Maybe the sensor has gone haywire?

Well I use Cooler Master Seidon 120v plus liquid cooler

Are you using the stock cooler? If you are you shouldn't have applied thermal grease to the CPU since the stock cooler already comes with it. That could be your issue. If this is the case you will need to remove the heat-sink and clean all the thermal grease off the CPU and the cooler base. After it is all cleaned off you can apply a small amount of thermal grease on the CPU. Tom's has several articles and comments on how to do so. The other possibility if you are using a non stock cooler is the heat-sink is not making good even contact to the CPU. You need to check the mounting to be sure the heat-sink is firmly against the CPU and there is no wiggle room.

For the CPU fan you should have it plugged in to the motherboard power header labeled CPU FAN. In the bios usually you can check the CPU Fan speed and set it to automatically increase with the CPU temp, or set it to run at a higher speed all the time say 80%.

Are you sure the water block is making good contact to the CPU? Is the pump circulating properly? Is the radiator properly mounted?

Guys I fixed the problem..

Now my CPU temperature Does not exceed 65 Degree Celsius while Playing GTA V..

And the idle temperature is 40 Degree Celsius..

My CPU FAN works fine and is usually quiet..

What I did was:-

Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options>Select Balanced>Change Plan Settings>Advanced Power Settings>Processor Power Management.

From There I changed maximum processor state to 75%..

I figured it out on my own but.. I appreciate your help :)

So what you have done is slowed your processor down and masked the problem. Not really a solution. With that cooler it should be able to run at 150% 24x7 and not get too hot.

Alright.. I'll check the Voltage
