Hi,

I have a problem with my graphics card - a Radeon HD 6970. It's worked fine for years, but now I get no display unless I plug in the monitor to the onboard graphics on the motherboard.

The computer works alright from the motherboard plug, and the fans are starting up on the graphics card itself. I have tried reseating it a couple times now with no change and when I check for it in device manager all I can see is the onboard graphics card. I have checked the bios to make sure it checks for PCIe

I have also tried different monitors, wires and plugs, as well as reinstalling the drivers (though without the card being detected I am unsure how successful this was)

I fear this is just the graphics card dying on me, and am all out of troubleshooting ideas.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I have not updated anything or installed any software at all for at least a few days before the problem. I cannot boot to safe mode while plugged into the graphics card as there is no display at all even before windows boots. It's as if the monitor is not connected to anything.

I have not yet been able to try the graphics card in a different computer, but I guess that is my only option as everything else I can think of has been ruled out.
