CPU Upgrade/ Replacement help please

Hey, so I recently got a new cpu and motherboard after breaking my other two via spilling water on them like the Dumba** I am, so when I bought my replacements I got the same model Motherboard but upgraded my CPU frm an FX-8150 to an FX-8350. The problem is that even though I know how to disassemble and reassemble the parts as I have already done, I on't know how to update my system to work for my new CPU, because when I start up my computer it says there is something wrong with the system boot up. So could you please tell me how to update from my BIOS?(My BIOS is MSI Click BIOS 2)

If your old CPU is still good, use it to update the BIOS. What MSI board did you get?

My CPU is dead, and my motherboard is a MSI 970A-G46.

...there is only one BIOS for it. The FX-8350 should work on that board with the current BIOS (v22). There is no newer BIOS to update to.

Yah, thats why I chose them but I really don't want to do a fresh re-install of windows for it to work, probably should have said that. Actually my Idea was to use an option in the choose an option menu to get the system to work but... I can't gt the choose option menu up from boot up.

Your question was how to update your BIOS. There is no update for the BIOS. Now, with that confusion out of the way...
What is it you actually want to do that you can't?

1, Sorry for taking a while to respond, 2, what I want to do is to get my computer to work, however I don't know whats wrong. When I first setup the new hardware I got a BSOD then the "Choose an Option" menu. Like I said the motherboard is the same but the CPU was changed from a Fx-8150 to a Fx-8350. Now there was something I as soon as I got my new CPU which was that even though I ordered my system new it wasn't. The reason I know this is because it had a scratch on the back of the chip(where you put the thermal paste) and there where marks around the edge from heatsink on it, so it is possible that the cpu is defective and was sent back once already. Another reason I believe the is because when I open the BIOS there is no temperature for the temperature gage so I don't know if that means the drivers aren't working or if the cpu is defective. the reason I didn't mention this earlier is because I really don't feel like shipping back my cpu because I got it with a cooler and will have to send it back also, and that thing was a B**** to install.

But overall, all I want to do is to get my computer to work again.

Wow. Sounds like you have ended up with someone else's problems. A new CPU should be pristine on both sides. The box that the CPU came in should have been sealed with AMD-logo'd tape. If this is a pre-built system, I'd be contacting the retailer I got it from. If you purchased the CPU separately, I'd return it as defective.

Are you trying to boot to the same Win OS that the old system was running? Or did you do a clean install of Win? And I'm not sure what you are referring to with that "choose and option" menu you speed of.

Yah that's what I thought when I got it and I will probably pack it back up tomorrow and send it back. To the second part I was trying to run it of the same Window OS that I had, while assuming that the BIOS needed an update to run the CPU, which is what one of my classmates was saying might be the problem because when he switched his CPU he said windows would at least start, or like you said the CPU is defective. Lastly, the "Chose an option" screen is what I refer to as the screen that gives you options to assist in fixing the issue of windows not starting correctly, while I haven't ever seen it in Windows 7, I heard that it was in windows 8 and 8.1 but I'm running windows 10 which it's in.

But yeah, I believe I'm going to end up returning the cpu and cooler (I'm going to hate removing that thing, the cooler I mean) and return it.

Win10, huh? I've only used that on a couple of my machines for a short time and then reverted back to Win7. So I'm not as familiar with 10 as I should be. Do you have an installation disk or flash drive for 10? You might try to boot to the installation pgm and see if it works as it should. Go thru the prelude to the installation, but stop short of actually starting the install. If you get that far, there's probably nothing wrong with the PC. It may just be that the previous installation is balking at the new board and CPU.

Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner but I didn't really see a need to check the tread anymore, but I upgraded to win 10 from win 7 when it was first released but reverted back for about 2 months then upgraded again when it wasn't s***, so I didn't have the disk to boot the installation program but I did try it with my win 7 installation disk before I started this thread but it barely even booted up past the win 7 logo before black screening.

So, I'm probably not going to check this thread for help but you can recommend some gear for my new CPU (probably going to order the same on) or Motherboard (returning and probably getting a different one.
