As the title says, will a 550W psu be enough for the upcoming GTX 1070 or is it too early to tell ?

Thanks in advance

Will Corsair CX Series, CX600M, 600 Watt (600W), Semi Modular Power Supply, 80+ Bronze Certified work?
also if you have time
I got a new monitor and my current graphics card wont work, I plan on building a brand new computer with the nvidia 1070 but before I do I had to get a better monitor. The monitor is not compatible with my current card, so in order to test the monitor I am going to get the nvidia 1070 in advanced before all my other parts. I am wondering bottom line will it work with my motherboard.{very new to computer building !}
Motherboard info: Identifying number: 452PMM1. Name: Studio XPS 7100

To the last two,please start your own threads.:) It makes it easier to answer and give info that's related to the hardware you have and want to buy,also because Cristian has more questions.than just about a psu.Make sure the first post states if you have the psu or want to buy it.

Ehhhh you see man, its a bronze and while it IS 620 watt, I would be kinda worried, esspecially with the overclock on the CPU. Maybe bring the CPU down to 4.1 or 4,0(IK its alot but I have a similar CPU, 4670k, and I run it at 4.0 and the performance is fine), or you could go out and pick up a 650 or 750 watt EVGA PSU 80+ Gold.

There is nothing he has to worry about. Please explain to me why he should be worried at all?

I am currently running

i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz (1.4v)
Corsair H50 Cooler
GTX 970 Strix @ 1485mhz (bios modded)
2x4GB Ram
3 SSD Drives
2 HDD Drives
1 WLAN PCI-E Card
4 USB Peripherals
6 Case Fans

On an 8 year old PC Power and Cooling 610W Silencer. Never had an issue. GTX 1070 has same usage as a GTX 970, and even uses the same 8-pin setup. A GTX 1070 will run just fine on this system also, I believe. Considering I am running a high overclock at a large voltage, this gives you an idea of the headroom a quality PSU will give you.

Therefore you should be fine with any quality PSU at 600W or above. At 550W, just make sure you have a good amperage on the 12v (read PSU reviews to find out what the PSU actually puts out).

Lets look at wattage requirements
CPU___________________150Watts Max
Video__________________ 100Watts typical
MB Fans x 2______________30Watts typical
4gRam x 4_______________ 20Watts typical
MB power consumption_____10Watts typical
SoundCard_______________10Watts typical
===================================
Subtotal 320Watts
Add 2 Disks 20watts ea 40Watts
###################################
System Ttl Wattage (ESTIM) 360 Watts

Your wattage requirements would be about 360Watts when running a game at 100% cpu.

Choose your power supply that has the most efficiency at at 360Watts.
A 600Watt PS could be operating at the 80% efficiency, at 360 Watts, whereas a 500Watt PS could be at the to 95% 90% efficiency.
Therefore 360Watts/.80 = 450Watts total demand if using a 80% efficient PS
360Wats/.95 = 380Watts total if you are using a 95% efficient PS
An efficient 475-500Watt PS with 90+% efficiency when delivering 360Watts would do.
