I keep getting a blue screen on my Windows 7 PC that shows BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER

0x000000fe (0x000000000000006, 0xfffffa80141b28f0, 0x0000000048766544, 0x0000000000000000)

I feel that it might be important that at random points my computer will make a sound as though a usb device has been removed. I also often have issues with my PC keeping my external hard drive connected.

Any insight on this problem would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys

best to go to your motherboard vendor and update the BIOS to a current version and install the CPU chipset drivers to get updated USB 2 drivers then install any USB 3.0 drivers that are provided. Note: you update the BIOS because the BIOS sets up the USB electronics and USB specs have changed over the years so the BIOS settings were also changed over the years. Also, some motherboard have actual bugs in the USB chips that are installed, it results in the USB ports hanging, when windows detects this problem it reboots your machine with this bugcheck. it just depends on the motherboard.

in this case error code 6 = An internal data structure (object) is corrupted.
this could also be caused by old third party USB drivers that may be...

this could also be caused by old third party USB drivers that may be installed on your system. things like old USB cameras, old logitech devices, or the apple charger driver that many motherboard vendors put on their system to override the usb specs for the max current. (so they could charge apple products faster) it would be fine except the early versions of these drivers tend to have bugs.
