So I just installed a MSI Krait LGA 1151 with an Intel i7 6600k to replace my AMD build. Everything seems to work fine, got all the drivers but it seems that this computer won't shut down or restart. It just says "shutting down" but never does". I've been hard restarting it but I really can't be doing that for long. The only thing I could think of is some kind of program preventing it or I need to activate Windows (which I will be doing tomorrow evening). Other than this problem, the computer works fine, boots fast and runs games perfectly.

Specs:
MSI Krait Z170
Intel I7 6600k @4ghz
16 Gb DDR4 Corsair dominator
256 a data ssd (OS)
1 tb
800W
EVGA 970
Corsair H100i gtx

Well you're supposed to do fresh install after motherboard swap as the existing Windows installation is for a different board, it contains all the wrong drivers & the registry is littered with invalid/obsolete entries.

Some claim they didn't have to do a fresh install but not everyone can get away with it.
When problems are encountered, there's always the nagging doubt that running the old Windows is too blame.
So the only way to remove that doubt is to re-install it.

So I have an ssd with my os and a 1tb with my games and files. I do have some files on the ssd though. Would that screw up the computer or can I just do a reinstall with a fob?
