I'm trying to set up data streaming for this device so it can be viewed in Excel. But am not really getting anywhere. Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

It's a camera that counts people as they pass below it. And it outputs the count data over a batch or streaming http 1.1 connection.

The company that makes it wants megabucks for the software that, I'm guessing, is doing something rather simple.

I've tried installing Apache XAMPP, and a few other smaller server programs, but I have no idea how to get the POST request to actually post data, or how to configure the website to accept data. So far, I'm not finding any info on how to go about this, please tell if you have any ideas.

Here is a screenshot of the camera's web interface

What you are trying to do is pretty much impossible without knowing how the camera outputs the information. I'm sure they do not give out that information as part of their business is selling the software that does what you need. I can't see the image at work due to the site you hosted it on being blocked, but I am sure that seeing that interface will not help anyone sort out how to pull the date from the camera.

I agree. I did contact them, inquiring about software prices... and was told to call. Also was told that service calls start at $95/hr. Hmm.

Though, I found a small program that will work, it is called TCP/IP Data Logger. Outputs to excel, also returns http status code to the client. Though it's $100, and no I don't work for them, just happy the counters work now.
