I am building a new system build and deliberating whether to get an i3-6100 or use an i7-4790K.

I got the 4790K from eBay for 5 GBP ($10 here) and it performed fine on my existing Haswell rig, clocking 4.38GHz while running Crysis 3 (at 17fps because it's my office build without a video card :p)

The build for the Haswell Refresh is as follows:

You can take $300 off for the CPU. Yes, I'm using the stock cooler.

Although I did not include the monitor, I want to game a game (eg Crysis 3) at 60fps at 1080p 60Hz at either High or Ultra settings.

The prices of both builds are almost the same. There's virtually no upgradability for the 4790K due to the 22nm architecture and the DDR3. So which should I get?

Solution
Go with the Haswell, though I'd get a Z(& mobo so you can OC the CPU and extend it's usable life (as far as keeping you happy), would also look to a different PSU, the CX series uses cheap caps
