According to this ,http://www.polygon.com/2016/5/7/11615780/nvidia-gtx-1080-launch-date-price
the 1080 is as fast as TWO gtx 980's!!!:ouch:
I thought originally it would be maybe 20% faster, is this article correct?
May have to reconsider just sticking with my gtx 980 classified now

Solution
Just wait a few more years until your card starts to show the sign of it's time. Get your money out of it, dude. A 980 is still retailing between $450-500 when it ain't even worth that much--get as much of your money back on it as you can. Then, in a few years, take a look at what's out.

If you have a 980 don't go get a 1080 '-_- I mean, as much as buyer's remorse is a thing, you spent a hefty sum on something that still runs things incredibly well. I don't know how this stacks up, but it was said at the release that the 1080 is replacing the 980/980 ti price point and dethroning the Titan X as the current speed king.

My 980 is a heavily overclocked classified(1575mhz on air) and i love the card
and game at 1440.
So IYO getting a 1080 is not really going to get me any big boost's in FPS and Vram?
Maybe wait for the 1080ti or do what i was orignally going to do and wait for Volta?
My original plan at the announcement of pascal was to stay with my 980 and wait for volta
but seeing those spec's of the 1080 kind of threw me into a BUY ONE mode! lol

I have to admit you are making really good sense about this.
Even though we as gamers want the latest and greatest sometimes i make mistakes that really hurt the wallet/
I just got the 980 classified about 7 months ago brand new for $500 with backplate.
SO if i were to buy say a 1080 at $600 i would only get "maybe" $300 for my 980.
Just not worth it.

Yeah the more i really sit back and think it over the more it proves you right!
;)
I mean it is not like my 980 is NOT getting the job done.
i am getting really good FPS and good temps with newer games(the Division,BOPS3,Watchdogs,etc) with just about maxed settings.
So i see my thinking before was more about "keeping up with the jones" than it was about doing the most logical thing.
Thanks! eric
