Hi all,

So I am looking at upgrading my GPU to a EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, and I currently have a 500w power supply. Would this be enough to effectively run this Card? Or would I have to buy a new one?

Im also not sure if it would work with my Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3 Motherboard.

Many thanks,

Adam

First of all, your motherboard will be fine.

Second, 500W is enough for a GTX 970, but the quality of the PSU matters too. What is the make/model of your PSU?

As per ThatVietGuy, the quality of the power supply matters. I wouldn't advise pairing anything (except maybe ultra-cheap office builds), with any PSU of questionable quality. 500W will probably be enough, but it'd help to know your CPU too. :)
