I'm in two minds what to have cooling my system ... I really like the look of the Cryorig R1 universal with the customod ... It's a bit on the big side though but looks well!! Could people please give me there ideas on what they think is the best cooling ! Without going into custom loops ...is it better to go for the air cooler for future costs and the ease of hardly any maintenance (at least if something goes wrong with a fan you can see it straight away , if a pump fails you end up with a large bill)

Solution
Liquid cooling used to be much more relevant on older, hotter equipment. For price to performance and ease of maintenance, air is the way to go. Even AIOs, though possibly offering quieter performance, are not significantly better at cooling and will eventually fail. When they do fail, there is typically no choice but to replace the whole thing. With air you just replace a fan.

Air cooling can get about 80-90% of the performance available, so liquid cooling is more (in my opinion) more about quiet aesthetics (and I say this having custom loops myself).

My canned rant on liquid cooling:

You buy a liquid cooler to be able to extract an extra multiplier or two out of your OC.
How much do you really need?
I do not much like all in one liquid coolers when a good air cooler like a Noctua or phanteks can do the job just as well.
A liquid cooler will be expensive, noisy, less reliable, and will not cool any better
in a well ventilated case.
Liquid cooling is really air cooling, it just puts the heat exchange in a different place.
The orientation of the radiator will cause a problem.
If you orient it to take in cool air from the outside, you will cool the cpu better, but the hot air then circulates inside the case heating up the graphics card and motherboard.
If you orient it to exhaust(which I think is better) , then your cpu cooling will be less effective because it uses pre heated case air.
And... I have read too many tales of woe when a liquid cooler leaks.
google "H100 leak"
-----------------------end of rant--------------------------

Your pc will be quieter, more reliable, and will be cooled equally well with a decent air cooler.

Yes , this is what turns me away from them , I think I will end up going for the r1 universal. Performs well , and looks nice and goes with my colour scheme ...
