So I currently have an FX 6300 and an msi 970a sli krait edition motherboard, however I was just given an fx 8350 and an Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 and I was just curious if I'd need to reinstall windows. I know if it's a different chipset you need to reinstall but I was hoping since they are both am3+ that I may be able to get away with it. My OS is currently on a partition on my ssd and I don't want to go through the hassle of cloning my program and game partitions, wiping the ssd, installing windows then setting up all the partitions again. Is there any way around this?

Thanks

If you change your Mobo then you usually have to reinstall your OS and everything on there. Even if you could get away with it (which I doubt you could) a clean install is always faster, cleaner, speedy and is a good idea. Yes a clean install takes time but it's worth it in the end.

Good luck :)
