Looking to upgrade an old specs PC, or should I just save up for a new one?

So, basically I bought this PC with some old parts :
CPU - AMD A10-5800k
GPU - GTX 650
Memory - 16gb DDR3
Motherbord - (I don't know)
----------------------------
I wanted to upgrade my CPU, but if I do, I think the GPU would end up bottle-necking it (was planning on getting an i5). But, I would rather not buy a new GPU and CPU, and instead I would rather just save up for an entirely new PC. Any thoughts? I don't really know my price range currently, but I may just start to save some money for a new PC if need be.

Solution
I'd save for a new rig, might be able to carry the DDR3 forward, and going to an i5 would be a great choice - or depending on how soon might see what the new AMD Zen CPUs might offer when they finally arrive

It's probably not worth upgrading unless you have a good motherboard and can get a good deal on a Athlon X4 CPU and don't want to spend much. You can find out what motherboard it is by using a program called CPU-Z.
