Here is my setup
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0)
AMD FX 6300
Corsair XMS3 8 GB (2 x 4GB) 1333 MHz PC3-10666 240-Pin DDR3
Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

As the title says, I have a total of 8gb installed, Windows 7 says 6, and a little under 4gb useable. I had a similar problem when I had an amd a8 apu, but at least windows saw all 8 . I just upgraded the mobo and cpu, hoping to fix the issue, but now am in this predicament. BIOS options are not being helpful. CPU Z shows 8gb installed. Not sure what I did wrong. Also, reinstalled windows and computer is very slow, the cursor is very sluggish.

If there is a number value set in the box click on it and backspace till all the numbers are gone.

If there was a value set in the box of say 6Gb. and the box was checked above it.
And you deleted the value and unchecked the tick box.

The next time windows loads it will report 8GB of physical memory.

And how much is free for other programs to run.

Also be aware that if you are using a onboard video solution on the motherboard it also takes a chunk of your main system memory.

You can reduce the amount most onboard video solutions on motherboards that use system ram by an option in the bios setting the memory size it can use as a maximum of your system memory.
