Choosing A Graphics Card

My budget is around RM500 (125USD). Based on a shopping site that does shipping in my country, there are a few types of graphics card that fits the budget.
GTX750 / GTX750Ti / R7 360 / R7 260X / R7 265

What I need is something that should run most and if possibly all the new games but on an all low settings. Being able to run the game is more important to me than how the game looks. A local internet cafe (cybercafe) near my place runs GTX750 on their PCs and it's capable of running most games on medium settings. So, is going for something cheaper possible or stick with the ones stated above? I would prefer the cheapest possible alternative but I am willing spend a little extra if I must

Usually people will say R7 360 or R7 260X because those are better than the GTX 750TI. Although, despite that, I do think the GTX would be a better opinion. I believe Nvidia is more reliable than AMD.

The GTX 950 is RM 200 (50USD) over the budget while the R9 380 is RM400 (50USD). As student, I don't have much spending power. I'm saving whatever allowance and part time pay I get to upgrade my pc. And as I've mentioned, what I want is simply being able to run the games. Therefore a high end card isn't necessary.

So your random belief that Nvdia is more reliable than AMD, probably based on your one-time personal experience, means the entire world should buy Nvidia instead just because you think Nvidia is more reliable?

No, of course not but it is a fact that nvidia works better than AMD. So does Intel on the cpu side. AMD is just a hunger power consumption brand in their CPUs and GPUs, not giving the efficiency of price / performance / quality the other brands can deliver. Sorry to break it out for you.

I would personally wait another month and a bit until after the release of pascal. All the older graphics cards will get much cheaper and you might be able to squeeze a gtx 950 or even better out of your budget.

Other than that, I would either get the gtx 750ti or the r7 360. The gtx 750ti should be a bit faster but if you prefer AMD over over Nvidia, the r7 360 will be a good choice. Both of these cards can currently play all games at low-medium setting at full hd with playable framerates.

I would definitely not save any money on this gpu, since the cards you mentioned offer about the minimum power your need for gaming. A cheaper card would result in unplayable framerates in new/future games. Good luck upgrading though, keep us updated!

What are the factors I should consider when choosing the best possible card besides its price? Since there are different editions of a certain type of card by different manufacturers. And also, what is parcal? I googled it. And the results: Estates and furnitures.

I meant to write pascal, sry for the typo. Pascal is the next generation of Nvidia graphics cards. When the new cards' launch, the older cards will get cheaper.

When choosing a card, I always look for reviews and benchmarks on the internet. There are also numberous videos on youtube showing the performance of gpus when playing specific games.

In your case, it is wise to set a budget and look for any gpus that fit into that budget (just like you already did). After that you should compare the cards using the internet. For example how does each card perform when playing your favorite game.

Between the gtx 750ti and the r7 360, I found that the gtx 750ti (and not the r7 360) is about 10-20% faster. Therefore I would get this card. There isn't a big difference between the different editions. In your case I would just get whichever version is the cheapest.

The Palit card should be about 10% faster than the Gigabyte because of the higher clockspeed. However, the Gigabyte card has got more headroom for overclocking so performance wise these two cards are very similar. I have no experience with Palit cards but I do know that Gigabyte cards are usually very well made. Honestly, I would just get the cheapest of the two.

^ exactly - the 265 always has been the best budget card around , in new card terms its in between a 750ti & a gtx 950 , or a r7 360 & r9 370 performance wise.

Still a good card today , entirely capable of medium 1080p at 50-60fps on new titles

Please note for anyone waiting for a Pascal price drop. So far they have only announced 2 high end cards, and some cards such as the GTX 950 are still fairly new. Its going to be a while before the new architecture filters through all the lines, so you may be waiting for a long time.

And anyone saying Nvidia is more reliable than AMD is spouting hyperbole. Neither one is better than the other, other than 2 as yet unreleased cards that would be the current performance kings.
