Which specific make/model?

TLC vs MLC...I defy anyone to tell the difference in a blind test.

All modern SSDs will last far longer than their expected validity in normal usage scenarios.(10+ years)
Take a look at the 750 EVO aswell. It's very competively priced. Also, ADATA sp550.

What about it? It is brand new.

However...http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/avexir-e100-ssds-launches.html
"The E100 SSDs deliver read/write speeds of up to 495MB/s & 385MB/s (120GB model), 515MB/s & 475MB/s (240GB model) and 520MB/s & 480MB/s (480GB model), respectively. The AVEXIR E100 SSDs are backed by a 3-year warranty."

Appears to be significantly slower than other consumer grade SSD's.
And a shorter warranty.

Why are you centered on this one brand? What else is available in your market, in your size and price range?

It's impossible to tell the difference because TLC drives initially write the file as MLC. Then later when the drive is idle, it re-writes the file as TLC. The flash memory cells are just memory cells with analog voltage levels, and can be used interchangeably as MLC or TLC.

Most people recommend the 850 EVO for a TLC drive because it doesn't cost much more than other TLC drives, and Samsung went through a lot of pain to learn important technical lessons about how to properly implement TLC flash with the 840 EVO series. Lessons other manufacturers putting out their first TLC drive may not have yet learned, so they may duplicate some of the mistakes made with the 840 EVO. You're basically beta testing their first TLC product.

Right. But soooo many people deride TLC ("I've heard that tlc is weaker than mlc"), just because of something they've heard.
Which is why the brand/model matters far more than the specific tech or three letter acronym.

Same with TN or IPS monitors. My current TN Asus panels are far better looking than my previous HP IPS panels.

The 850 is 3d-vnand, witch is a different beast from the simple TLC used in the 840. That "old" TLC can still be found in the 750 evo with the appropriate lessons learned, though.

No it's not.
Price, size, performance, warranty, brand, in your market. In that order
That AVEXIR E100 you are looking at is brand new. Zero track record. And apparently mediocre specs.
Go with something else.
