Specs:
Windows 10
Intel I5 6600k
Gigabyte Z170-HD3P
PNY 250gb SSD
Asus Strix GTX 970
16gb DDR4 RAM 2x8gb
Corsair 600W power supply

After about 20min, sometimes longer, of playing a game (Fallout 4, Star Wars BF, Rocket League) my screen goes black as if the video card stops and I hear the sound of an error window popping up, like when an app or device crashes. Then my PC will either restart or I will have to do a hard reset.

This problem started after I installed a new motherboard, processor, and RAM. I used to have an AMD. After installing the new hardware I did a clean install of Windows 10 and installed the proper drivers and bios updates. The GTX 970 was working fine before with the AMD so I'm thinking it's either software or the new mobo/processor. The event log does not show anything interesting. Just a restart due to bugcheck.

Things I've tried:
-Clean install of Windows 10 twice
-reloaded gtx drivers and rolled it back
-Prime95 test on CPU: no crashes and maximum temp was 58C. CPU seems fine. Cooling is good.
-Memtest86 for 8 hours with no errors
-Furmark did not cause the black screen and gpu temp stayed under 70C
- BIOS is up to date
- Windows is up to date
- Ran a chkdsk on the HD
-Reseated the GPU

Help.

Thanks!

Nevermind. Not sure which one fixed it but I changed the PCI connectors going into the card, changed the power strip the PC was plugged into, and changed the location of one of the exhaust fans. No more black screens.
