pascal looks absurdly cheap for the performance

high end
1080ti +pascal titan = enthusiast
the difference is with this gen "high end" we get last gen's "enthusiast" performance then + some extra ;)

so if the projected pricing sticks we are very fortunate

no idea about price in england, the price in the USA is supposed to be at $379 or $50 more then the 970 released at. The 1070 is rumored to perform at around the GTX 980

I would hang on a few weeks after the nvidia launch. AMD's launch is supposed to be within weeks of the Nvidia launch and it promises to be cheaper for the "similar" cards and potentially (if benches/rumors are to be believed) even faster then pascal, with the r9-470 matching or performing close to the 980ti (if rumors are to be believed)

yea, hierarchy charts and ranking lists definitely needs a makeover after this years/gen's releases, since they blow miles ahead of the previous top ranks

why? the 1080 apparently performs about on par with the 980ti

Nvidia/rumours say 25% better, but again i will wait for 3rd party to confirm, but thats still a big leap ahead from high end to last gen enthusiast

I'd wait for actual production samples to make it into reviewers' hands before making any conclusions about performance. Nvidia obviously got to test the cards with lots of games prior to their announcement. It's possible they made slides highlighting the average performance improvement they found in testing. But there's a very strong temptation (a lot of pressure from marketing) to cherry pick the biggest performance improvement for your product release presentation.
