I'm trying to hook up an ethernet cable from my laptop to my desktop to give the desktop internet access, It has been working before, but after I factory reset my laptop it does not work. Network sharing is on, I've tried all the other solutions on Tom's Hardware but none seem to work for my situation. Please help.

Did you run through the network sharing wizard or however you setup the network sharing before? After a factory reset all that gets removed and you have to run the setup again the same way you did before.
