Alright gurus,

For the last couple weeks I've been playing Stardew Valley, but yesterday I started it up and got an error "Low on Memory" while playing. I thought it was weird and didn't think about it, but it happened again, and is consistently popping up. My computer specs:

120 GB SSD
8 DDR4 GB ram
i3 6100
Windows 10
No GPU

I checked task master immediately after the error and sometimes it looked like it was chewing up 7.7 gigs of the RAM. Other times it looked like it spiked, but then went down. Either way, there's no way Stardew Valley is using that much memory... or should be.

The only thing that changed over the last couple weeks was I downloaded an emulator for Mario Kart 64. Could this be a virus thing?

Any other ideas?

Thanks a ton in advance. Tom's Hardware lurkers have always fixed the issues I haven't been able to fix out!

You can't fix the game... only apply a patch or update. Your best solution is to increase your page file size.

The game could have a memory leak or your computer could simply have too many background programs running that's eating up all your RAM.

The most common fix would be to increase your Page File Size.. since that usually fixes low memory crashes..

I downloaded project64 / mupen64.

Nothing other than the normal Windows 10 malware protection.

Could you recommend a good program to run and check it?

1.How would I fix the games memory leak?
2. I'm only running mandatory programs in the background. The normal memory usage is around 16%. It's the game that spikes.
