My PC just died, no bluescreen just powered off and wouldn't power at all again. Tried the paperclip test on the PSU and the PSU fan spins for about a second then stops but it powers the case fans. I have had multiple issues with components recently, my GPU began artifacting and my sound card stopped playing the left channel.

Hardware:
Asus Maximus VII Ranger
Intel i7 4790K
16gb Corsair Vengeance Pro RAM
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD
Corsair HX1000i PSU

Was previously using an MSI Radeon R9 295X2 and an Asus xonar STX II sound card but have returned both to the manufacturer due to the issues above. The GPU has been tested by the supplier and found to be faulty. Could all be caused by a faulty PSU (I think? I'm not a total beginner in building and troubleshooting PCs but I'm far from an expert) but with the way it powers the case fans I'm not so sure now.

Any advice would be much appreciated! This build has caused me naught but headaches since mid last year.

UPDATE After testing the PSU with paperclip test I plugged it back in and it booted no problem. Still concerned that it happened at all and my computer experiences random lags where the sound bugs out during gaming and playing video usually. Really dont know what the issue is.

Thanks in advance

Solution
PSU isn't the problem. Something else is. The PSU should be silent unless temperatures are too high for the thermometer to like, at which point the PSU fan turns on. Does the integrated graphics bug out during games? Try that.
