Im gonna build for the first time and these are the specs ive been going for right now.

GPU: XFX Radeon R9 390
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500
MoBo: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming (I googled what is the shortening for it)
Cpu cooler: Noctua nh-d14
RAM: Kingston Value DDR4 2133MHz 16GB
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850W (Gold)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO Series MZ-75E250B 250GB

Any recommendations for another piece of gear that would fit better or just a cheaper option that wont remove too much performance.

Solution
There are really high quality 650w PSU's that will hold your 970's. 650w should be fine for an R9 390. 970 does have better driver support on most games, but you should wait for the new GPU's to release. The 1070 is going to be about $350, performs better than a TitanX too.

Id go for a gtx 970 or 980 instead of that gpu. For that gpu you are paying for the brand than the item. 970 easily beats that gpu in benchmarks. also you could cheap out on the psu for an evga 650 watt or so unless u really want that (Gold)

I will most likely stick with the r9 390 but i will look into it.
And i preffer to have a better PSU becuse i used to cheap out on them until one pretty much exploded.

Ya you cant really cheap out with an EVGA but those are one of the worsts things to cheap out on.

Actually you can cheap out with EVGA.
EVGA is just a sticker company, they buy PSUs and put their sticker on them, and they're quality is kinda sporadic, though they are slightly more reliably, that only matters if you know which of their PSUs are actually good. Like the Supernova line is pretty good, EXCEPT for the Supernova NEXs.

All other PSU brands are basically equally the same, but some are continuously garbage and just should be outright avoided.

Yeah thanks for the advice about the 1070 i will look out for it.
And about the PSU im not getting a 650W and this is my fault for not saying but i also want quite a bit of expandability as computer parts get better really quick (1070 and 1080)

650w should still be fine for 1070 or 1080's, they're more efficient than the last generation.
