Hey there, I am seeking some advice and input regarding a graphics card upgrade. Be forewarned I am not computer savvy, however I have spent some time looking into this so I hope I'm not too far off. My motherboard is a XPS 630i and my graphics card is Nvidia geforce GTX 285. I was looking to upgrade my graphics card to something along the lines of GeForce GTX 960.

Some of my concerns are the fact that my current graphics card (GTX 285) is a PCI express 2.0 card and the GTX 960 is a PCI express 3.0. Does this difference prevent me from upgrading my card or does it cause any problems down the road? Also, after sifting through forum posts I read that some Dell computers are unable to be upgraded due to how they're assembled or how Dell controls their products or something. If anyone has an insight on these concerns it would be greatly appreciated and I apologize for any misuse of jargon!

yes, dell computers sometimes lock the bios to make it not possible to upgrade

you would need to do research
