I have a P5QLPRO motherboard and just obtained a Gforce 8800 Gt graphics card. When I installed and turned the computer on I heard a loud whistling sound and removed it. After further research online it said it didn't have enough power and that was the reason for the sound. I found there is a 6 pin plug in to the card for power. What should the other end of the 6 pin male be or what is the specific cord that I need to buy? Thank you for helping.

you do not want to use adapter cables with an under powered psu, that is asking to blow it up

new proper psu is the only solution

pcie 6-pin cable

which should come from your power supply

if your current power supply does not have one, you need to get one that does and meets the minmimum wattage to run the card

Thank you maxalge. It currently does not have one. The watts is 400 and I wasn't sure if a cable like a SATA 15 pin to 6 pin would work or a way I could connect to the current motherboard or tie into the other cables like a splitter into the current power supply or if that would even work.

If it will please let me know. Other than that it sounds like I need to get a new power supply that has the 6 pin cable unless there is another solution I could try.
