wifi extender problem

HI i am new here so please pardon any mistakes. There has been a problem recently with my wifi extender.the scanning menu of the repeator is not displaying my router but i am getting a weak signal of my router on my laptop.so iam not able to set up my repeator to that particular router.i have two internet connections the other one is working fine with the extender
please help

ps:my laptop is a dell 15r se 7520
extender: tenda A30,N300 wireless extender
router: dlink dsl-2730u

I tried what you said,but still the result is the same it shows all the wifis of the neighborhood but not that one i tried updating the firmware still no result it is connecting to other wifis superbly but not the dlink one i dont know what to do i placed my laptop in the wifi range of the dlink router it worked perfectly on my laptop it just wont connect to the extender which i really need bcoz my room is two floors upstairs plz help. The extender displayed the router in its scanning menu in frequent intervals of about 2to 3days but never consistently
